I made a video of the inside of the Kamermaker, a HUGE 3D printer. @Ultimaker is a sponsor and contributor to this project, which is currently printing the first Canal House! It already printed sections that are taller than me, and have a 4 m2 footprint. You can visit it in Amsterdam, it’s a building site that’s publicly accessible. Check out http://3Dprintcanalhouse.com/

This is great! Where can I find more information about the extrusion system? I have so many questions about it!

Partners in the project were http://xtrution.com/
They supply small(ish) extruders and have quite some knowledge about this. You could get in touch with Servan Bakker.

Hey Erik

is the tube coming out of the filament machine is that heated or is that like the bowden tube on the Ulitmakers?

The tube is completely wrapped in a heater element. Also, there’s quite a high pressure inside, especially at the top end.

Is the extrusion rate controlled, or is it open loop? If controlled, is it by pressure sensors, or does the feed screw have a calibration constant, or is there something else going on?

Input is controlled, but kept constant. No feedback. No retraction either
