I just got a couple of TL-WN722N wifi dongles for my two printers. The nice thing about these is that they can set up a WiFi access point I can use to log in to @OctoPrint with (I have two BeagleBone Blacks running Ubuntu). Great!

But here is my question: Is there any way to disable Octoprint from writing to the /etc/network/interfaces file? I swear I never enter in new values in the configuration screen but every so often that interfaces file gets blown out…by Octoprint. I just want it to be untouched by Octoprint…anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Thanks!

OctoPrint doesn’t even know what an interfaces file is nor should it be able to write into it (unless you are running it as root which you really shouldn’t). Why do you think it is OctoPrint doing this? How have you set it up? What configuration screen are you talking about? Questions over questions

I am happy to answer them! On the config screen for OctoPrint you can set the network name. That is the bottom most setting, and is used for connecting into a wireless access point.

I wrote OctoPrint and I’m fairly sure that no, you can’t

Ha! Then I defer to you! But the version I use does have some modifications I guess, for network connectivity. I can take a screenshot when I am next at home. Thanks!
