I have noticed that since I have really dried out my PLA filament I get very little oozing. Has anyone else noticed that?

Reduces the bubbles and popping for me, but my generic hot end oozes like a drooling baby, I need to upgrade to an e3d once I start building a new printer

What method did you use to dry out? I have some very moist pla I need to dry!

I haven’t really had a problem with PLA so much as I had with Nylon. Nylon is crazy with how much it bubbles, sputters, and oozes if you leave it out.

I dried it out with lots of silica gel as per: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3LpN7WA0pw
I have my nylon drying out as well but haven’t used it yet. If the silica gel dries that out enough that would be perfect.
I’m in a sub-tropical climate so it gets pretty humid here.

Hi there SAE wondering how do you see that højt filament needs to be dried. I have some problems with PLA curling up in the middle of the first layer. Maybe it is too moist.

@Martin_Knudsen Yes, I had that exact problem as well. The problem was it was too moist. Watch the video and do that. I could not get it quite that dry, but with 1/2 a KG of silica gel it has gotten dry enough. The only problem now is that I have to dry out the gel every now and then.

Thanks, i have tried to dry out the filament in the oven at 50 degrees celcius for about 45 min. It also seems to work ok.
