Instead of selling digital files, you’d be much better off selling your ability to design things according to specification. It pays much better.
Totally agree with @ThantiK , there’s huge demand for freelance designers. Off the top of my head, you could have a look at http://cgtrader.com
I’m part of blendswap and blendercookie. I know you can also advertise your services on their sites.
Selling models isn’t really a marketable point. The ability to create however, is.
Oh, which reminds me… I’m available for hire if anyone needs a modeler. I handle all formats, and I do UV mapping as well as animations.
How about Shapeways as an alternative? For people who don’t have their own printers. I’ve been making a nice few bucks from them I just pulled in $60 the other day from just one of my models. And the checks keep rolling in every month.
Appreciate the feedback!
Thank guys, I really want to get into digital sales so that I can reach consumers who have their own 3d printers. http://cgtrader.com is great but doesn’t really focus on 3d printing. I found another site, “layer by layer” but unfortunately they don’t let customers download (which lets them customize) the file. Has anyone used http://www.makershop.co?
