I have a bulldog XL extruder and just got my E3D hotend but I cant seem to figure out how to get a tool into the small hex bolt on the right side of the picture. Am I putting this together wrong or is there another way. I know the hotend isnt all the way in just showing clearances.

Although I have the “lite” version I did not have to loosen the bolts before inserting the E3D hot end. It should just slide in from the side without the bolts loosened.

I actually had the opposite problem with the fit being too loose so I had to place shims between the block and the E3D hot end.

Use an hexagonal-head bolt!

A ball-headed hex key/allen key can be inserted at an angle and still work.

Mine slides in but not all the way so I had to loosen it up a bit. I’m going to have to get one of those tools then

@Chad_Nuxoll I second @J_Manuel_Gomez-de-Ga just swap the bolt for a hex head and use a wrench. I believe it is much better suited for this application and should be considered as a revised method by the manufacturer

I’m glad you understood the idea.
