I am trying to configure g2core. and struggling with the z axis calibration.

I use a T8 lead screw for the Z axis. it has a 2mm pitch (according to spec and measurement).

on the gShield it is configured with x2 microstepping.

So on the g2core I configure the travel per revolution as 2mm and the microstepping as half.

this results in a huge over travel (more than twice).

Have I misunderstood the nature of these settings?

What is your $3tr (expected: 2 for 2mm per rev) and $3mi (expected: 2 for half-microstepping) parameters value? It is pre-defined in the settings.h file, but you can update this like in TinyG v. 8.
Check start-up parameters in the serial port properties of Chilipeppr SJPS widget and adapt them appropriately.

Well. That is the question really. What is the right adjustment?

I’m using the config widget.

The pitch is 2mm. So that is what i am putting in. But it is not correlating with a sensible travel so i calibrated it mathematically and got 7.6. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to like floats. But this approximately works.

I think the learning curve for this may be more than i am willing to invest after grbl. Milling is not that central to my life although i would really like to get just one usable board before i junk the kit!
