I am looking to try some other materials apart from abs but what are the material combinations you cannot switch between with cleaning the hot end on change over?

On any material change you need to clean the hot end, but that just consists of getting it hot enough to extrude both whatever the old material was and whatever the new material is, then extruding until all you see is the new material coming out. There’s nothing special behind that.

Edit: a better way to describe it is “purging” the hot end, not cleaning it

Ideally, you do an “unclog” type maneuver to pull out the remaining old material, but that’s hard to nail. I’ve heard of one person having a different hot end for each spool, but that’s a significant investment. A different hot end for each material type isn’t so bad.
