I am looking for recommendations/suggestions for a budget-level CNC mill (DIY/kit is fine!) that will work with LW4

Not sure what your budget is but if http://you.want something serious then look here. This are like tanks.
You can use either GrBL or smoothie with them

No idea yet how much… I am kinda flexible, trying to get my bearings on what is possible… Esp. since I live in the Netherlands, so S&H and import/customs play a role too!
Not planning to spend what I spend on my (in all regards great!) FabKit, but totally aware that you get what you pay for!!!

(So anything with warehouse/origin in the EU will have a definite benefit! )

Thanks so much! I have some reading to do, I believe!

I would select a machine with spindles instead of belts for better stiffness and less backlash.

@cprezzi you meant to say threaded rod?

I made one of this:

@Roberbike is enough rigid to cut aluminium precise?

@Kostas_Filosofou yes, it is. Now I am cutting carbon fiber with a 1,5 kW spindle.
I changed a little the original design of axis to be more rigid. The spindle is too big, but I need 24000 RPM.

I cal already tell this is going to be another gold-sink… This MMORPG called Real Life has too many of those!

One part of me says, get a desktop model, the other part says get a big one, you’ll have more options!.. :open_mouth:

@CescoAiel The C-Beam machine can be oversized as you needed. There are XL, XXL sizes.

Looking at the C Beam XL I see the following statement:
“750mm x 330mm (29.5” x 13”) X&Y axis cut area or 1250mmx830mm (for the 1000x1000 version )”

Jut wondering how the axis cut area can be bigger (1250x830) than the device (1000x1000)?..
