Holy Crap! I now see why you guys like ABS! Corners are actually sharp! I guess I’ll see about plumbing in a heated bed. #firstworldproblems
I’ve been quiet as I’m printing the Carriage for the igENTus, and noticed that the ABS failures are quite a bit lighter than the PLA carriage. Light is good.
Wait till it starts to warp!
Since abs is less dense than PLA, when you buy by weight, you get more.
Wait a sec… if you’re getting better looking prints with ABS then PLA you are most likely printing PLA the wrong way. PLA needs to be printed a lot cooler, and needs to be cooled down pretty quickly after that (usually with an on-head fan)
(I’ve seen about 1000 better looking PLA printed Ultimaker robots then the one I see on this photo. Yes, we printed shitloads of these)
I’ll take a good close up of it this evening, then take tips on tuning.
Then print again in pla, using my pla settings. (190-200 instead of 240)
I’m with David here - I find PLA a lot easier to print than ABS, and on small objects like the Robot, you absolutely, positively have to have active cooling.
