Hi. Please tell me how your gears is holding up and what material they are printed in. I print mine in PLA and get perfect fit. They look nice but will they hold up? Is it better to print them in ABS?
Someone printed the diff housing in PLA and it melted after a few minutes of driving. I printed mine in ABS, but people also print them in nylon too.
Ok thanks. Well i already printed mine in PLA so I think I will let it melt : -) and go for the ABS or nylon version then. I dont think it is easy to print the small differential gears in nylon.
Is no one having succes with PLA gears?
I wonder if we could make a mold from the PLA prints, and cast them in a stronger plastic?
The new flexible filament might be a better option. The geometry is complex and being able to stretch the mold to remove it might work well. My work just ordered some of the ninjafex filament. I really should finish my small cnc mill too because it might be possible to machine them too.
