Hi, I was just printing with my Mendel and the z endstop slipped and caused my hot end to ram into the bed. This is not the first time I have had this happened and no other people with the same issue. I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to prevent the endstop slipping and/or a new design for the end stop holder. I use mechanical endstops not opto.
Lots and lots of improved designs on thingiverse. Just find a beefed up one on there and print it out. It’s not really a problem if you have it properly tightened down. You also want it to brace enough of the smooth rod so that it doesn’t tilt back and forth (thereby changing the Z height on you arbitrarily) – This one for example, might be a good candidate: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26797
