I’m moving from LW3 to LW4 and I’m in trouble with raster engraving.
I tried to engrave in raster mode a 40x40mm .BMP format QRCode (just one word, let’s say “TEST”) and no matter the settings (M4 rather than M3, laser mode enabled, overscan …) I did not succeed.
Maybe it works with very low speed or in vector mode, but I’d like to use raster mode at a cut rate of at least 50 mm/s.
I would really appreciate if anyone could try to do the same to compare the results.
In my case it seems that the laser turns on too slowly and so, much of the beginning of each line is not burnt.
Do not worry about my settings, because they will obviously be wrong.
My setup is:
2,5W A3 Eleksmaker clone
Notebook + windows 7
GRBL 1.1f
I think 50mm/s with a 2.5W diode is too fast.
With my 5.5W Iaser I can reach 15-35mm/s for a good engraving, which is heavily depending on material and focusing!
@nicktrumbet I found the reason and fixed the problem.
The board is a ugly clone of the Eleksmana and manages the laser as if it was a generic load with a mosfet. The laser, instead has both power supply and TTL/PWN connector. I powered directly the laser with 12V and wired D11 directly from the pcb to the TTL/PWM connector on the laser. Now I can do what I need. The problem, obviously, was tha delay in turning on of the laser due to the powering on of the supply section of the laser itself at PWM frequency.
