Hi everyone. I’m new to this hobby. I’m trying to produce GCode for my cheap Chinese CNC cutter using Laserweb 4.0.996. I can make GCode for millcut but not for cut outside or cut inside which allows for the diameter of the cutting bit. I’ve watched all the tutorials but really can’t work out what I’m doing wrong. My files are SVG being produced by Inkscape

Help !!

Richard post a screenshot of how you are setting up laserweb

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty Sorry Ariel, I’m a complete novice with my laptop (give me an Apple anyday) I’m trying to workout how to do it

If it’s a Windows PC then use the printscreen key on the keyboard, open paint the paste

@Richard_Fisher Hope you can see what I’ve done

I cannot see if it generate for not since the gear is clicked, also mind that a 3.175mm but seems a little bit for the spacing in the gear teeth. Try the operation with a more simpler shape or a bigger one

(Richard Fisher) #9

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty It generates the pre cutting set up and the finishing off (raise tool) but nothing else. It doesn’t make any difference which part of the gear I try, the result is the same

The Gnerate button is blue, which means its tried to generate and the Simulator arrows are fully left, they would be to the right if it had worked

What forward does it use your machine? Can you click the little eye icon next to the generate button and show me the gcode it shows?

@Richard_Fisher if you tried with bigger shapes and it does not work then most likely is that that path is broken, meaning not joined and composed of many small ones. I suggest use another app and try with a simple shape. Dxf work better than svg

@Richard_Fisher This is another part with a 2mm bit. You can see what it has generated

(Ariel Yahni (UniKpty)) #15

You can also send me that file and I’ll try to verify later

(Richard Fisher) #16

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty Thanks Ariel. Can I e-mail it to you or can I do it here ?

(Ariel Yahni (UniKpty)) #17

Better you post it and send me the link or PM me

(Richard Fisher) #18

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty Sorry, no idea how to post it :frowning:

@Richard_Fisher Hi again Ariel. I’ve just converted it to a DFX file and it seems to be working now. Thanks for your help, I’ll let you know how it goes when I actually cut something. Please ignore my last
