Hi everyone, I am new to 3D printers and 3D printing in general.

Hi everyone, I am new to 3D printers and 3D printing in general. I am, however, not new to building stuff and programming, automating. So I decided to build my own printer. I saw a tutorial on Prusa I3 Mk2 Clone by @Thomas_Sanladerer , and I started building it. Tutorial is very detailed but I still have some questions:

  1. Can I put toothed idler for Y axis instead of smooth one(smooth one was used in building stream)?
2 @Thomas_Sanladerer mentioned (a few times during the stream :)) that Ramps 1.4 board is not quite good. I found BIQU BIGTREETECH KFB2.0 on aliexpress, can I use it instead? Problem is that I am from Serbia and sellers tend to not ship here, any advice on the matter is welcome.

  1. Yes, toothed ones will actually help with longevity of the belt and result in slightly smoother operation.

  2. I’d suggest staying away from any of the 8-bit boards that use Marlin, etc. The cohesion3d board is good, the smoothieboard is good, etc.

Thank you for the reply , i’ll go with the smoothieboard then.
