Hi all, must say first an amazing community !!
so much information…
maybe some one would take a look at this printer for me, as i am living in Brasil and theres not much choice at the moment
Where can one find the files for the laser cut pieces? I’m interested in seeing your X carriage/X motor/X idler. It’s very different than the one used by the Graber i3 and MakerFarm i3. (Though this design is obviously taken from the Graber i3)
Also this printer is violating @Brook_Drumm 's license on the extruder, which is a non-commercial license.
@ThantiK is right: the extruder on there is the Printrbot LC extruder, which is now licenced CC-SA-NC. That said, earlier on the extruder was not licensed NC.
Right now what I’m trying to figure out is how the heck those LM8UU’s are held inplace on the x-carriage and the z-motor/idler parts! It looks like they just slide into 15mm holes w/ nothing holding them on, or am I missing something???
I feel your pain, @stephen_prescott . I´m trying to get into the fray with some decent, enterprise level, printers, but the good ones are really expensive. Good luck.
@Shane_Graber , ever notice those little grooves in the LM8UUs? They’re for C clips. Maybe they’re using those?
@Jeff_Karpinski , you’re right - I misread OPs post, and thought he was showing it to this community as the owner of the site. My apologies to @stephen_prescott .
I’ve mailed the owners of the site requesting the source for the machine. Dunno why, I just have this pet peeve about people taking open source stuff that people have given on the basis of trust, and then people taking the files, incorporating changes, and not re-releasing those changes so that the community that gave them the head-start in the first place, could re-benefit from the changes if they were beneficial.
@ThantiK : I looked for c-clamps in the entire build manual but came up with nada. There were a couple close-ups of the LM8UU’s in place, but even then I couldn’t figure it out. It would help if I could read Portuguese too. I agree, too, that they should release the source files since it’s pretty obvious they used open-source design files.
Hi All…Just wondering , has any one tried a ground glass surface for printing on??
the surface can be abraded with different grades of silicon carbide abrasive paper to see if it provides a good grip,
I suppose this may already have been tried,
