Hi all! I’m looking into buying a Makibox A6 HT. As MakiBox is new company, I’m kinda worried about throwing my money down the drain, especially since I’m on a low budget. Is the A6 HT a good choice, or have you heard anything about it that would make it advisable not to buy it? Thank you!
They’re a year behind shipping estimates. You’re going to be waiting for it. I don’t think it’s a bad choice, especially for the money, but there’s nothing out there that’s going to get into that price range for the features they’re offering.
There is no guarantee whatsoever they will start shipping units any time soon. You could be waiting another year. Or two.
I placed an order in August for an A6 HT. I am pretty sure they will start shipping soon (mid to late October is the current estimate). I believe the Makibox people are genuinely trying to make the product right before they ship it.
I believe they have the best intentions, as well, yeah. That does not guarantee a good result.
Well, if you’re on a low budget, you probably should wait until we (I work for Makible) start production and shipping.
We should be there soon, but then again that’s what we already heard last year, too
Maybe you want to have a look a http://printrbot.com I ordered a printer there and got it delivered very fast (even to Europe). And they are very devoted to their customers.
I’m still following makible with great interest and after the first reviews of production units are in I am entirely likely to dump 300 bucks into it (despite my earlier acquisition of a Printrbot Simple which I quite like).
Wow! You guys are the most helpful community I’ve ever seen! Thank you all very much! Based on all your advice, I think I’ll wait on buying a Makibox, but I’ll keep my eye on both Makible and Printrbot and see how they develop. (Printrbot is a little expensive for me.) Thank you again!
The printrbot simple is $299…
@Kai_Laborenz Yeah, but it doesn’t print in ABS, or have a heated print bed, which are big things for me. : (
Not sure what your money or time budgets are, but you may consider a Bukito from Deezmaker, should be shipping about February or March and then there is also the RigidBot from Inventapart which may hopefully be shipping about the same time. Both are new items from previously established businesses. But they are also both Kickstarter projects.
If you are a little bit adventurous you should have a look at http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fabtotum-personal-fabricator/x/1807739 Thats a printer, a mill and a scanner at the price of one!
I’m still waiting for my Kickstarter unit but apparently not for much longer.
@Rojer_Wisner The Bukito and the Rigidbot are both a little outside my price range, but thanks anyway!
@Kai_Laborenz That’s tempting! But, again it’s outside my price range.
(I have a really small budget.)
You’re welcome - good luck.
