Hi all
I suspect my issue has been addressed somewhere, but I’m unable to find the answer so far.
I’ve got myself an aliexpress 5.5w diode laser cutter/engraver.

flashed the nano firmware up to grbl 1.1f, but when I try to cut a dfx file, the green lines (which I believe are supposed to be low power) are being cut the same as the red gcode lines.

Any suggestions?

Check this:

  • Check your GRBL is in LaserMode ($32=1)
  • Settings->Machine Profile, choose GRBL, apply.
  • Settings->GCODE… drop any M3 on Gcode Start (should be none as you applied the GRBL profile), Then put M3 on ‘Tool On’ and M5 on ‘Tool Off’.

@Jorge_Robles
*Settings=> GCODE

LOL… I’ve put clearly on third line "put M3 on ‘Tool On’ and M5 on ‘Tool Off’. "

@Jorge_Robles
Lol :slight_smile:
Ok thnx :slight_smile:

@Jorge_Robles why do we need M3 and M5 ? Isn’t Laser mode taking care of that by using G0 and G1?

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty , true, just throw up from my mind. Sorry :smiley:

Thanks one an all for the advice. Cuts like a champion now!
I seem to be able to get away with ~10% power to cut paper which is rather nice. Would much rather drive the laser at lower power.
