Hi All,
Does anyone know if the 5V pins on the MKS Gen-L can drive a Raspberry Pi 3 properly? Also, can the heater bed/hot end mosfet be used as on/off switches? I want to use them switch high power LED’s on and off. The LED panel draws 1.4A @ 42V.
Thanks for your input.
Dylan
For the LED: if you’re talking about driving an external mosfet, then yes. If you’re doing a parallel draw with a live bed, then probably not recommended. You might exceed the ratings for the [edit: onboard] mosfet or the connector.
As for the 5v, I highly recommend using an external power supply. Usually the [edit: typical onboard] 5v regulators won’t push enough current (edit: because they are there to only drive the microcontroller and the signals), but you’d have to find it on the board and look at the spec sheets.
