Hi all,

Anyone encounter this crosshatching when trying to engrave? The image is a bitmap, I dithered it in gimp. The source image going into LW4 does not have the crosshatching, but viewing the “laser output” in LW4 shows the crosshatching.

Dithering was turned off, but “join pixels” and “trim pixels” were enabled. I can provide the workspace json, but I was curious if others had seen this. I’m using 4.0.732-78 (Rev A)

My guess is that the dither size is too close to the laser size

If you dither outside of LW4, you need to make sure that the pixel size is exactly the same as the configured tool diameter by clicking the orange button “Raster opt.” in the positionnig box.

Scaling issues can turn an exact match slightly off, producing patterns.

It’s moiré’, try using a halftone. I use 60lpi at a 45 degree angle 300 dpi resolution.
