Hi!

A friend of mine just buy a anet a8 and the X and Y endstop are not working. Do you know what can he do to test it or fix it?

Test it with a multimeter and fix it with either a new endstop or a new cable or plug

@Jonathan_Knirsch I know that. I think my question is wrong asked, what I mean is that this is a common issue on this printer :slight_smile:

@Luis_Diaz Not that I am aware of it… mine worked fine, maybe he did sth wrong

@Jonathan_Knirsch ok thanks! He checked continuity with a multimeter at the end of the wire and it’s ok. So maybe it’s the board. I’m going to borrow him a board that I’m not using just to check that it’s not the problem.

Any marlin should work right?

@Luis_Diaz I guess so, there is by the way a test function in the preinstalled software… somewhere in setup, there he can see if the board really doesn’t recognize the x and y endstop or if maybe some settings are wrong

@Jonathan_Knirsch cool thanks!

@Jonathan_Knirsch he tested it and the X and Y endstops shows as “Off”

Does the endstop show as “on” when you try to trigger it manually?

@NathanielStenzel nope, still showing as off

Are there two leads or three leads on the end stop? Do you have the wires connected to the right leads?

@NathanielStenzel there are two leads. I cannot check it cause it:s my friends printer, but will tell him :slight_smile:

If there are only two leads, then that is hard to mess up. If there are three leads, it could have the wires hooked up wrong. If the wires are in the right places and the end stop still does not trigger when you try to trigger it manually, the end stop needs replaced. Hooking the multimeter probes to the end stop leads is the best way to test if it triggers or not. A continuity test would need to be done.

@NathanielStenzel that it’s already done and the endstops are working properly with the multimeter
