Hey… I’m seeing a lot of 88" aluminum print beds, (and some 812" beds) but does anyone know where to find the ones for other sizes, such as 44, 66, 10*10, etc?

If we’re talking about the physical aluminum plate above the heated bed then you can get them custom cut pretty easily. I called a local machine shop that sold the aluminum and they cut me a piece 8 and 7/16 in square with no problems.

@Griffin_Paquette yes, basically. The 1010 mk2-like PCB heaters are basically standardized by now, but nobody makes the aluminum print bed of that dimension. Finding a piece of glass for it is also tough, but that can be custom cut, although asking for borosilicate gets awkward stares sometimes.
I have a 10
10 PCB heater for a Wallace that I’m planning on upgrading to a silicone heater eventually, so an aluminum surface will be best so I can still have the screw holes for the springs…

Agreed @Francis_Lee my favorite combo is still Mic6 aluminum with PEI on top. You will pay for it though as the cast aluminum is expensive

@Griffin_Paquette yeah that’s my plan! Aluminum platform to attach either PEI or Buildtak.

@Griffin_Paquette I have a MIC6 custom size of 250x250mm 6mm thick and I’m planning to do the same project done by Geckteck with magnets.

by the way, I’m totally lost of PEI sheets, does it requires anything like spray and etc to print on ? how are the reviews with PLA, PETG, ABS and etc? If is it cheaper and have good review I maybe try it out.

I have today a Silicone Mat with a MIC6 Aluminum + Geckotek build plate model ht, which I love it! (Never used glue sticks, sprays and etc.) I know I’m spoiled :stuck_out_tongue:

PEI is awesome for most materials. For PETG you want a little bit of glue stick because it actually sticks too well. The only times I’ve printed ABS were on PEI and they all came out dead flat. By far my favorite material to print on @Adriano_Bertoni_Nerd

@Griffin_Paquette where can I buy it?

@Adriano_Bertoni_Nerd If you use Amazon, you can find it there…

I use PEI on a small printer for PLA. After sanding it, I can print really well with a cold bed!

@Francis_Lee Sanding?

@Adriano_Bertoni_Nerd Yeah, for some reason the initial surface was only marginal “stickiness”. Then I used a sanding block to make it a bit frosted, and I’m having trouble popping prints off! :slight_smile: I have to unclip the plate and hammer the edge of it with a paint scraper.

@Francis_Lee this is somehow good. However I don’t know. I want to try it but at the same time I will continue with the geckotek
