Hey guys wondered if anyone can help.

Hey guys wondered if anyone can help. Trying to connect the Ares through a Mac which only has thunderbolt bridge and USB connectors, no ethernet, thinking it could simply connect to the wifi router’s ethernet (although my router isn’t a landline as its more of a home dongle).

Now I’m following the instructions for sharing the internet but it doesn’t seem to be connecting through the router. Does the ares need to be connected to the printer to the Mac first?

Could you clarify your current connection? The first picture seems to show a cable between Ares and your router, and no cable to your MAC. I assume that your MAC is connected to the router via WiFi. If this is correct, all you have to do is to determine the IP address that your router assigns to Ares. You can use arp -an to make discovery as the Simplified User Manual suggests. On a MAC, most often you can simply use the name octopi.local (or octopi) even without knowing the IP address, thanks to Apple’s Bonjour. Just point your browser to http://octopi.local/.

@whackyhack Oh sweet that fixed my current predicament! Cheers Yuan! Much appreciated!

@whackyhack Hey Yuan it looks like I’ve connected and tried to make a print by dragging and dropping but nothing appears in the page. tried logging in with admin default but can’t.

Tried to ping the octopi in Terminal but I got

ping octopi
ping: cannot resolve octopi: Unknown host

Since you are connected from the browser, don’t worry too much about terminal at this time. You do need to logon before you can operate it. What is the admin default you are trying? For Ares, the initial default is easyarts/easyarts. If you haven’t read the user’s manual, this is a good time to do so:-)

@whackyhack Cheers for all the help Yuan, I was able to make a print and happy with it!
