Hey guys, Are there any Designs for Extruder Cable Chains for the Prusa mk2s, that don’t require the extruder or mobo to be re-wired?

I’m hoping to just take off the included cable wrap and just install the chains over the as-is cable bundle.

I would be very careful about using chains… If not absolutely perfect they will chaff your wires (I have seen this so many times on other 3d printing groups on FB).

In addition, they add weight, friction and drag to the movement of whatever axis you are adding them too. They also usually introduce a much tighter bend radius into the wiring and concentrate the flexing around this point too - increasing wear.

Apart from aesthetics I fail to see the point of them.

@Alan_Lord Thanks for the info. Sadly, no matter what i do, right as the cable bundle comes out of the Rambo case it bends down flat. creating a pinch point on the wires.

No matter how many times i fix the Filament in the bundle, the cable wrap, or the Zip Ties securely. It always slips back out loose, and falls over to the side and bends. A cable chain would give it some strength and stability.

I made a cable chain and hated it (very noisy mostly). Much better to use a braided cable sleeve that keeps everything contained.

But should you want to learn yourself…
