Hey Community,
I’am new to the Maker stuff, my first Project will be a Lasercutter. I ordered a Eleksmaker A3 Pro 2500mW. (Unfortunally before i found this community, to ask )
So my plan is a RaspberryPi with LaserWeb connected to the Lasercutter via USB. Do i have to write the grbl1.1f Firmware to the cutters Arduino?
We have only Linux Maschines in our Household. Is SVG the best bet? or ist there (beside LaserWeb) other good Software Solutions for the Penguin?
Is there a projectbreaking mistake in my plan?
thanks to all for your comments and recommendations.
J.
Inkscape is a good tool for creating images on Linux, and interacts well with laser cutters/engravers.
Martín. Yes you need to flash grbl 1.1 . Please follow the instructions in our wiki.
Thank you both for the answers. i watched some videos yesterday and i think my plan is not that bad. the cutter will have a place in our garage, which is very cold in winter. is that a problem ?
And the googles that are delivered with the cutter are (accordingly to some videos) not very sufficant for the job.
Do you guys have a recommendation for some good (hopefully not so expensive) security glasses?
Thanks again.
Eagle Pair glasses seem very effective. I got !ine from Survival Laser, but some are also on Amazon. Watch out for close copies of the name, though. They should be about $40 for the basic pair.
@Charles_Stuart thx, do you have a link? german amazon doesn’t find eagle pair protective glasses ;(
Hah, sorry. Should have looked at your location. The link is https://www.survivallaser.com/Safety_Goggles/cat556089_826120.aspx. I’ve purchased from their US store twice, and have no affiliation other than being a satisfied customer. Make sure to choose the correct glasses for your laser wavelength.
