No I agree but the shipping on that is 40 by itself
Since i already do have 2 sets of these lights i think ill end up using them but its gonna be a little different but it should be brighter then with each individual being adressible if i do each set of three vertical and all of them in a horizontal pattern you know what i mean? I will just need to set up the soldering that may be fun haha
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Black-PCB-DC5V-5m-WS2811-built-in-the-5050-RGB-150-LED-digital-strip-light/969633185.html – for $9.80/meter.
Thank you for the links ill be getting some of those but I may save up for some 6806s since those look to be pretty good right?
I doubt it will be a good choice - I suspect the lpd6806 is a variation on the lpd6803 which the library doesn’t support.
Then again i looked into doing that set up and the connectors alone are gonna be over 100 lol sooooo im gonna do some research on how to do this right haha
Ok im starting from scratch a ws2811 is what i want? And is that site a good place to order from?
That site is where many of the members of the community order from, yes. The things you’re going to want to look for are waterproofing in the strips, whether you want 12v or 5v, and, if you want to use this library, whether or not the led chipset is listed on the chipset overview link I pasted in above.
The cheapest prices I can find for waterproofed WS2811 is ~$10/m in the US and ~$6/m from China (aliexpress)
I just bought 10m of LPD8806 strips for $8.50/m plus $35 s/h from Aliexpress. They are waterproofed with a sleeve as opposed to the molded ones. So yes, there are definitely other options on there. I normally post my request and let the vendors send me quotes. Once I find the correct product (because they never actually read the full request), then I’ll start comparing prices. Occasionally I will force two or more into a friendly bidding war till I get the lowest price.
So I found bees and I think I’m going to use them there completely waterproof they can go sideways and they’ll be 3 deep just like the other ones but I think the work a lot better Also they are mountable
What do you all think again thank you for all the help it’s amazing here
those look cool, all the cutting and soldering already done
might have to give them a try
