Here is another video of that pearlescent polymer filament. This filament behaves very special. After extruding into air, it shrinks up and gets thicker. Until it cooled down, it has a very “foamy” consistency.

Wow that is very strange looking.

Doesn’t that kind of behavior make it tough to print with?

@Stephen_Baird It prints very similar to PLA, actually. Slightly hotter (230°C, 0.1mm, 100mm/s) and needs a lot of cooling. Nothing hard to work with.

The post-extrusion puffing doesn’t mess with dimensional accuracy or make your layers a lot thicker than the slicer expects them to be?

Nope. Not even a little bit. Look at my previous video.

Hm, interesting looking stuff. I like that sheen. Now, can I get it from anyone in the US… it seems like it only comes from one specific German supplier?

I don’t normally like shiny finish print but this one actually looks pretty good. Aaaand as always it also looks like only available in German…

For US source for similar filament you can try: https://www.matterhackers.com/store/3d-printer-filament/biofila-silk-1.75mm

While that does look similar, and interesting, it’s also almost twice the price. Oof.

@Step_Cia Haha  AGAIN! You see why I love to live in germany? We got the good beer, the autobahn and the high-quality 3d-printing stuff

@James_Armstrong @Stephen_Baird I know silk-filament and it is not the same but it comes close.

well fortunately, we do have access to German beer here phew
