Here come trouble in 3d printing land.

Here come trouble in 3d printing land. High end printer company goes after low end printer co. Why? Because they own makerbot.

So I suspect they will go after little companies that can’t afford a team of patent lawyers.

Does anyone out there think this is good for innovation like the CEO of Stratasys says?

Always go for Open Source 3D printers like Ultimaker, RepRap, Mendel… because they are the only ones that really work to bring us 3D printers into our home.
Makerbot and his CEO Bre Pettis are just here to make $$$.

I wonder if the good people at the EFF will have any help to offer.

I’m waiting for them to go after the companies that don’t make all that much money but that we really wouldn’t want to be without — like printrbot or ultimaker or makibox.

How about the open source things they infringe.
Seems like a good way to silence the mad dogs tricks

Fuck them they just need a bunch of ppl calling and complaing about there product and lawsuit and how they will never buy there product. I know a few industry’s who nixed the status for an afina so if they got these calls from business suit dropped. There to big for themself

@Jasper_Janssen
If the company is not based in the states, they may just retract from the US market, rather than risk litigation. These crazy laws (like many crazy things) only apply in the US.

@Tim_Rastall very few companies can do that and remain profitable.

@scott_maher I do hope EFF gets involved. They are already attempting to stop patent trolls.

It feels like corporations are trying to stifle invention (while stealing new ideas).

It is a sad day (today) when NewEgg lost to the TQP patent lice. Hard for me to believe that the jury didn’t believe Diffie.
