Hello. Recently upgraded my Prusa i3 with a Bulldog lite and J-Head Mk8. My prints have been a lot more consistant but I am seeing small bubles on external parameters.
Above is photo with two PLA prints. The one on the left was printed at 180, and the right at 215.
Should I increase the speed or adjust my layer height? Right now I am running at 20mm/s.
Redo your extruder calibration and check the filament path for any binding.
Could be over extrusion. I would definitely recalibrate and try again.
Re-calibrating helped out a lot. I still get small tiny bumps. But not like before. Should I adjust the layer height. Running J-Head MK8?
I would drop your extrusion width in your slicer. I don’t know how it could be a layer issue.
Hello. Just wanted to post update. I have set the current to motors to 95% of max and slowed down the print speed to 25mm/s(param) and 45mm/s(infill). I started getting better prints but still not where I think it should be. I then started reducing the extrusion multiplier; at 85% on now.
Not sure if I should adjust the E-Steps. I can set to 107 but not sure. Current E-Steps is 105.985.
Will post some pictures soon. I really appreciate everyone’s help. Thank you!
95% is wwayyyyyy too high for your drivers to be at. Your motors are probably very hot at that point. I don’t think that your problem is with current. I run my prints with an extrusion multiplier of 92%. It’s just the number that works for me. What drive gear are you using??
I just reduced current to 80%. The DRV8825 are on the azteeg x5 mini v1.1.
current setup is
e_steps_mm = 105.985142
e_motor_current = 0.6
motor_current = 1.2
speed_param = 20
speed_infill = 35
multiplier 0.92
One thing that I notice is that the params width looks very wide. Is that something to do with layer height. Currently at 0.25
What is your nozzle size? I have a .4mm and for standard resolution, I use .2mm layer height.
You should follow this guide to calibrate your extruder:
@Keith_Applegarth forgot tom did a guide nice suggestion.
@Keith_Applegarth Nozzle size is .4mm. Ill try to print at .2mm next.
If you are using a mk7 drive gear with 1.8 degree nema 17 I would put your e steps at 103.7. Always worked fine for me.
@Keith_Applegarth I used that Guide and got 105 for my e_steps. But all the post I can find about Bulldog Lite recommend setting to 107.
@John_Santiago as long as you command 100mm and get 100mm it is good.
Have you tried a different roll of filament?? I have one roll that is funny enough also white that gives me the same troubles but I have zero problems with any other rolls.
