Hello everybody,
i’m looking for a PET Filament supplier with 2.85mm Filament and 2.1kg (!) spools in Europe (!) with at least the colors black and orange (or any other flashy color).
I don’t want to use 750g spools, these are too small and i don’t want to change them alle the time. I have a high throughput, in the picture you can see the spools form the last 12 months
Any ideas for how to reuse those spools?
@John-Paul_Hopman I think I have enough spools to make a Tiger-like tank chassis with those lovely interlocking wheels. Just have to get some sort of rubber liner for the rims…
Hmmm…you need larger spools.
Ya know I have some semiflex…i think I will print some sleeves and hubs and make a chassis…
Wouldn’t filament makes take them and give you credit for them like recycyling glass bottles? If not, we really need to convince some of them to do things like that.
We should. Heck you get at least 2 metal screws out of each. I have a Filastruder so I could keep maybe 4 of them lying around but the rest…if I could fabricate rubber tires I could be making vehicles year round for DARPA…lol
@Samer_Najia child sized cars.
Child sized tracked vehicles for all terrain ops. Hey can enough of these make a boat?
@Samer_Najia no idea on the boat, but I was thinking of something like the 4 wheeled cars.
Maybe you could ebay or craigslist them
@NathanielStenzel I have some artwork in mind
More soon, i think in 2-3 Months.
Another voice for Extrudr, i use 2.1kg PETG and ABS spools from them.
@NathanielStenzel if you mean kiddie cars those wheels would work with rubber tires. I think it’s a great idea.
It’s too bad those reels can’t be chopped up and fed to an extruder to make more filament
@Alex_Skoruppa i ordered that one yesterday and i am looking forward to how it performs
If you know the manufacturer, they can wind onto almost any arbitrary spool if you ask nicely. I think they don’t advertise larger spools. I wish it were worth reusing spools, but they are cheap. Almost have to have a huge stack and freight ship them on a pallet to make returning them worthwhile. I tend to find alternative uses for them.
