Heiya boys and girls!
I seem to have a problem with my K8200 after installing my new extruder. The damn thing just won’t move. (It worked flawlessly beforehand).
I haven’t changed anything really on the configuration, but if the device is cold, any move command issued returns a MINTEMP error which I assume is because of the sudden drop in temperature reading.
If I heat up the hot end, the commands are issued and the LEDs at the motor drivers have a very very faint glimmer, but the steppers won’t step… any ideas on how I could go troubleshoot this?
The board used is this one: http://www.open-electronics.org/a-new-board-for-the-3drag-theres-more-than-sanguinololu/
Any ideas?
Its not something silly like a power supply or cabling/grounding issue is it? It could be that the motor draws power and drops the voltage rail to the thermistor?
There seems to be a jumper on the board for choosing 12 or 5V, could something have happened with that?
I don’t notice any fuses on the board, and none in the schematics, did you use a external fuse?
no fuse used, allthough the power supply led doesn’t turn on. I measured the supply voltage to the board and it’s 15V, I also measured the Motor supply voltages on the Polulu drivers and they’re also fine at 15V. The logic supply voltage for the stepper drivers is at 3.22V which is also OK and the stepping commands go out (flickering LEDs LD7 - LD9 only very dimmly).
I’ll try to test the Stepper drivers on a breadboard to eliminate that problem. I’m also thinking of measunring the current draw from the power supply…
What about the 5V line after the rectifier?
Not enough current for the extruder plus motors seems the likely explanation. Dim LEDs can be low logic supply symptom. Low logic supply can lead to the CPU executing random junk.
