Not sure why this is happening. This model I have printed several times with no issues. It has also happened on another model that I have printed several times as well.

Any help is much appreciated.

Any recent changes in your environment? Perhaps you have fans or the AC turned on in the house?

Partial clog in the hot end limiting the amount of material being extruded?

Well have the ac on now. I have a second printer right next to this one and no issues.

I did change the gear on the extruder about 2 months ago as well. But I have printed a lot after that.

Im not sure if there is a clog. I did a cold pull and it was clean. I have the Prometheus v2 hotend.

This is a shot in the dark, but I know that I had issues with motors skipping and acting weird after a few prints or an hour or two into a print. I read somewhere static buildup could interfere with a stepper motor. Attaching a wire from the motor back to the metal power supply box helped.

What about filament. Are you using this same filament on another printer with the same results?

I have used the same filament on both printers. I think what is going on is the extruder pulls the filament, its also pulling the carriage up. As far as I can tell the filament is coming out fine. Its just not being place down correct.

The 2 filamnes I have used for while now and I know they work great. Only major difference between the 2 is the spool they cone on. One is smaller and fat. Other is tall and skinny. The skinny I have to put on the spool holder. The smaller fat one is where the this issue happens really bad. I can move it to the top of the printer were it can move better. On the spool holder its fits just right so might be a little to hard to be pulled

You should try to ensure that there is NO difficulty for the extruder when its pulling in filament. In early printers this was a huge issue, but there are a lot of stands and racks on thingiverse and youmagine for low friction rollers to hold filament.

It causes all manner of bizarre problems.

Has it shifted? or just “skipped” layers? If the latter, check if the extruder is slipping. New/different filament, or clogged/gummed up hobs(?) might be causing the filament to not feed consistently resulting in missed layers. (Might also be slightly jamming - problems maintaining hot-end temperature?)

I fixed my extruder carriage being pulled up by having the filament go through a flexible plastic tube
