Has anyone ever used Nylon Bridge for high mechanical abrasion situations?

I want to print (dont know the exact translation sorry) a series of plates for Farming, the ones used on seeders for grain sorghum, and they are allways under stress and have the tendency to wear over time, at first I think of Petg but nylon seems to have more resistance to abrasion, what i dont like its the Tc temp of 52c… for nylon bridge, so im kinda lost,

Any ideas or someone ever try something like this?

Nylon is usually a good choice for abrasion applications. Don’t know about Bridge specifically some of the stuff that makes it lower-warp (low crystallinity) might also make it stickier, but I’m speculating.

@Ryan_Carlyle , so basically if i want something for abrasion resistance other types of nylon are better than bridge? Nylon 910 perhaps?

You’d have to ask taulman. 910 is good stuff though.

If you want something that handles wear crazy well, take a look at iglidur it’s spendy, and sometimes tricky to print, but it is a phenomenal bearing material

if it’s being abraded by seeds being sown, you’re introducing the plastic in very small particles to your field each time. not sure that is a great idea for your long term soil and crop quality.

I use alloyy 910 for that. Holds up 4 month now instead of abs which held up 2 weeks… I think nylon is the best choise for low frictionstuff. At least its printable

@AlohaMilton you do that with you coffeemachine. You do it with your car, you do it with every moving part. Just think how fields are on roadsides and you get all the rubber, metals, plastics, chemicals and oil into the field…

@AlohaMilton actually the standart is abs for this kind of plates, and like @VolksTrieb as stated nylon is best for friction, but wasnt sure for this kind of application, will try to print and see what happends

I do not slowly grind down and distribute plastics into topsoil with my coffee machine. and no, most crop fields are not full of that stuff you imagine. what the heck? farming is hard enough one first starts to condition and improve the soil quality, first thing! For more crops! to pay the mortgage! sheesh the public concept of farming is so bad, you think you can survive without farmers? think again!

@AlohaMilton no i dont think again. What do you think happens when farming is done? Its done by machine which contain all of that i told you.

industrial farming has created several deserts, yet people still argue to cut corners and offset costs to future generations. sad.

first this place its for 3d printing only,
second as 3th generation farmer i know what and what not fucks the farmings lands, i do FULL ORGANIC crops, no pesticides no gmos, we barely accept certains hybrids in my land, the use of nylon its to stop using the abs standart, im trying to improve the production AND do reforestation of the lands, less used land for farming more land for trees that stop desertification of the land, here in mexico we have that problem a lot, so plz stop making a problem from all the propaganda you have seen on the news, do something for real and dont argue with other people, theres enought hate already out there for nonsenses.
