Has anyone ever tried to run an E3D v6 off of a 25mm fan?
I’m hoping that the 1.9-2ishcfm airflow is high enough but I’m curious if anyone has done it successfully

Depends heavily on what you’re trying to print and what incoming air temperature is. Through interactions with customers, I wouldn’t recommend dropping below 3CFM, especially with PLA or a heated build chamber.
The fan on my v4 died at some point, and I didn’t notice for about a week, because I was printing ABS and nylon. As soon as I switched to PLA, it became immediately apparent something was wrong, and I finally noticed the fan wasn’t spinning. After three short, failed, attempts to print I discovered that the interior of the hot end was full of burnt black crap that took a couple nylon pulls to clear out.
The moral of the story is basically what Tim said: Depending on what you’re printing with, you may be able to get by with less cooling. But if you’re going to experiment with a lower CFM fan, be prepared for problems, and have some nylon on hand to clear out the aftermath of any failures.
