Handed out some 3d printed DEFCON logos at the convention yesterday… A guy asked if it was 3d printed, then said it was the first printed thing he’d seen. I think this group is a little echo-chamber-y sometimes.
Pretty sure he wasn’t. Defcon is a HUGE hacker con, I haven’t seen ANY 3d stuff here. Not even Makerbot.
People are still surprised when I show them anything I print… hopefully that means good things for those of us on this wave.
It’s funny, every time I show someone something I printed they say " Oh that’s cool so how did you make the mold". When you tell them there is no mold, the machine builds it from nothing but a spool of plastic they give you this look like your crazy. It’s one of those things you have to see to believe.
I can relate to that. In Germany it seems like a lot of people have heard of it on TV but never had real contact with a 3d printer or a 3d print.
@Shauki Lehrern (manche sprechen einen an) gebe ich immer kleine Beispielobjekte mit, die können es dann ihren Schülern zeigen.
