Guys, iv been asked to make a workshop about 3d printing for kids from 9 to 14.
My idea is to take a whole day, talk with them about the printer and then let them design something to take home at the end of the day.
Is there any nice and easy software that can be easy for them?; im thinking something like tinkercad, but offline.
3Dtin is the best app for that age group but it is only online. You might try 123D Creature for fun but you might end up with something unprintable.
Google sketchup was great for learning how to built a 3d model. Advanced enough for kids i guess.
Make sure you have time to print stuff for every kid. Otherwise it won’t be fare to the other kids. (Or print some whizzles before you go).
Also; If some kids aren’t very good with a computer. Let them design something on paper and let someone else make it into a model. (Not every kid is good in computers, but can be creative!)
Also make sure you have a copy of Netfabb Studio with you, to fix any faulty models.
Kids get antsy fast. Allow plenty of breaks in the schedule where kids can work if they are engaged or can (mentally) wander off for a bit if they need a break. Provide time for a lunch and snack break, too.
