Interesting

Huh… Did he just convert an Ultimaker into a ZCorp?

Yup. They are or will be selling this for $350.00

http://spitstec.nl/

That’s a special kind of BS isn’t it?

Umm, to all appearances, this thing is actually by the guy who made one of the original patents ZCorps bought and built their business on. That’s interesting.

The underlying technology patents are WAY expired though, dating back I believe to a 1989 patent from MIT.

Oh the music, thankful there’s a mute button. I generally don’t know what people are thinking when adding their favorite beats to a video.

@Nathan_Walkner The way I remember it, Formlabs was infringing BEFORE the patents expired. Which would be grounds for a lawsuit. I haven’t looked at that case in a long time though.

After a patent is expired, the invention is permanently in the public domain, period.

Ultimaker to powder printer conversion? O.o

That head does seem like an awful lot to put on those slender rods.

The head removes a ton of Z height too. Cleanup is surely a pain too.

@Jeff_DeMaagd i do not think it it’s heavy. Most of the load is on the stand on the top of the printer. I would like to add a box on the printbed to print in, to keep all the powder in place for easier reuse.

Hello, I am the maker of this thing. A German company should have made 3d printers with my process back in 2000 and pay me royalties. Instead of paying me royalties they sold the patent to Zcorp. I am now trying to clame the patent back. Unfortunately i will need lawyers in Germany, Switzerland and USA to achieve this.

@Aad_van_der_geest good luck.

+Aad van der geest If you really are im sure you can get a lot of attorneys to pro bono on this as it would be very high profile case

Now on sale on Tindie
