Yes, there is a tempered glass iPad screen protector on the heated bed (background here: http://richrap.blogspot.in/2016/02/glass-3d-print-build-surfaces-are-not.html - h/t @Richard_Horne ) I have been using those screen protectors on my two other printers for some time. If you manage to get the material to stick, it gives an absolutely perfect surface. I had not seen anything like that before.
