Genmitsu 4040 PRO MAX Y Axis barely moving

I’m facing an issue with my Genmitsu 4040 Pro Max, the Y axis is barely moving. When moving the rails manually, I don’t feel any resistance and it feels smooth.

The machine is basically new, only 7 hours run time.

Tried tightening the stepper motor to no avail.

Attaching the video, first I’m moving the Y axis at maximum speed then the X axis (for reference and sound)

sounds like the stepper motor is skipping steps. Do you here the clicking sound?
That implies either the driver is not supplying enough power to the motor(Voltage and/or current), a cable is bad, a connector is weak, the oil/grease is dry and putting too much load, etc.

You could try swapping the X and Y motor wires at your controller and with the spindle in the middle of the work area, try moving the X axis(which should move the Y direction ) and see if you get the same results.
If it moves fine then it’s not the motor.

Are you sure that’s possible on 4040 Pro Max? There are left and right pins for Y axis, but for the X and Z axis there is a unified controller, with different pin number.

Ah, right, there’s probably a motor on each rail. in that case you’ll need to find other ways to figure out how to test what’s happening. Like do you see the X gantry go out of square when you move it forwards and then backwards and forwards again? This would indicate one motor is working while the other is putting out lesss power.

What information are we missing? Has the machine sat unused for a long time? Have the lead screws been cleaned or not cleaned? How about the voltage on the power supply, is it holding at 24V when each axis is moved?
