Genmitsu 3020 Issues when starting cut

Howdy

I’ve been restoring and troubleshooting a Genmitsu 3020 Pro Max for one of my classes and up until now it’s been smooth sailing, manual controls all work mostly perfectly although it often can become unresponsive if too much time goes by without input, when this happen the coordinates change on candle but the machine itself doesn’t move although this isn’t the main issue I’ve been having.

The main issue I’ve been having is with the automated cutting, I’ve gone through the process of setting up a CAD model and going through all the required steps to import it to Candle as a .NC file. The problem occurs whenever I try to run the operation, even when properly zeroed all that happens is that the spindle raises itself as high as it can, turns on, moves about 4cm to its left and then deactivates although candle still says that the spindle is active and stationary, the only way to get around this issue to my knowledge is to reset the program then home the machine again although this simply results in the process eventually repeating once its attempted again. Some extra information incase its useful is that the machine is decently old and before I started working on it wasn’t used for at least 3 years to my knowledge although it could be longer/shorter and was in decent condition.

If anyone could help out in any way whatsoever I’d be extremely grateful, I apologize if wrong terminology was used or if this is a simple issue as I’m still new to all of this and still in the process of learning. Thanks in advance!

What CAD program are you using and, perhaps more importantly, what CAM post-processor did you select? Also, does it have a limit switch at the top that it might have hit?

Selecting the right post-processor (and units, metric/imperial) can mean the difference between g-code it can understand or not.

I only ask about the limit switch because sometimes settings can determine whether triggering one is ignored during non-homing or stops the job.
