Hi there,
I bought a fiber laser G2 20watt galvo to etch away aluminium from mylar substrate. now it was a gabmle.. since i do not want to cut the mylar. and i opted for fiber for that reason.
Now i do noticed the fiber laser heats up the mylar a little to much to my liking(i think transfered from the alu to the mylar), and i know UV lasers wont. but then again i believe UV lasers are pretty good in cutting mylar/transparant materials. any people here with a UV laser that could help me out testing it of maybe you know it will cut the mylar as well, something i do not want. i want the mylar to remain and the alu gone
here an example of a coil i etched away. looks pretty fine. but i can feel the heat after cutting and the mylar lost some of its strength. ![]()
