From what I understand quite a few users have made the transition to LW4. Does that mean that the software is getting fully functional, also for complete beginners like me…? What are the benefits of switching over from LW3?
Thanks guys.
LW3 is a brownser app, LW4 final will be a full app (Win, Mac, Linux). few bits are still work in progress like com. LW4 is still in alpha, so not for everybody YET.
Lw4 looks pretty much like a js node app that requires a browser to me.
@Richard_Vowles it’s because the magic (electron) didn’t happen yet.
The workflow in LW4 is much more user friendly. LW3 was great, but LW4 is that much better in my opinion. I’ve been using LW4 to generate the gcode and then loading the gcode in LW3 to run the laser until the coms are finished in LW4
@Carl_Fisher That sounds like a good idea. Will try that. (If I can figure out how to download and start up LW4…)
You don’t have to download it currently. You can run it right from the git page. https://laserweb.github.io/LaserWeb4/dist/
