Hi,
I recently developed a free and open online CAM system for hotwire foamcutters.
It also has built in shape generators and can load existing vectors.
You can try it at https://cncfoam.com ( no signup needed , you can dive straight in )
It is completely free, it is online , it is a hobby project.
As I am a one-man show I would love to hear if the tool works for you or if you need additional functionality. I am more than happy to build new features and fix bugs.
Any help is much appreciated.
thanks in advance.
Pete
Whoa. A lot of stuff in there. Is this open source?
Hi James,
cncfoam.com has an open access license
Anyone can use the website and it’s tools for free.
-
No registration needed.
-
Full commercial use of generated designs is allowed.
-
People can inspect the browser code if they want.
-
People may not copy, redistribute, fork, host, or monetize the software.
I will never charge anyone to use it and it will never sit behind a paywall ; technically the code is exposed and the source is open for anyone to look at because I built everything to run conveniently in your browser so in that sense it is open , I have nothing to hide, but I am not giving away the source on a silver platter as I do not want commercial parties to take my code and run with it so they can monetize it.
you can see the license text here : https://cncfoam.com/LICENSE.txt
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for sharing. I’d love to explore.
