Is there any way to find out what controller I need for a generic Lcd display if it has no make or model number on it?
This isn’t the actual display, but it’s the kind of thing I’m trying to find a controller for
Hello, by ‘generic LCD display’ do you mean normal monochrome 16x2 LCD or a Raspberry Pi compatible LCD display that is shown in your attached picture?
a color lcd with a 40 or 50 pin ribbon cable, but no model or makers details.
The place you bought it should list the low-level controller. ILI9341 is just one of a myriad on the market. I would advise buying TFT with a controller/interface to avoid disappointment.
I brought the screen and controller together, now I’m looking for a replacement controller with a display port.
I need to identify which controllers are compatible with the unbranded screen that I have, with no markings or model number.
My existing controller is sealed inside a plastic case with no markings of model number, and I don’t want to break it open to find out in case I damage it.
The original retailer was a web storefront that no longer exists.
What input does the existing kit have ? Is a display-port to that one an option ? I think the number of connections on the tail is one of several standards, defined by the number of connections, but I’m not certain. Can you identify the chip on the interface card ?
It has an HDMI port, a composite video port and a VGA port, along with a USB port and a 5.5mm jack both of which are for power, and a ribbon cable for the video out.
There may be more but the case covers them up, and it’s not designed to be opened. It looks like the join is either glued or heat welded. I can’t even see the interface card.
It looked really good at the time because I didn’t have to make my own to protect it from damage.
Try Buydisplay.com. They probably sell the display therefore would have the correct controller.
