Finally, the Frankenbot is all up and ready to go on Thingiverse! I had issues with it working on Github so I moved it over…
Here is the link for anyone who wants to build one. It discusses the parts and the instruction guide (almost finished). Bear with me on this one guys as I have never done something like this before.
Great job!! It is beautiful! Well done, sir!
Awesome! What’s the frame made out of?
@Brook_Drumm thank you so much! It means a lot that you gave me the opportunity. I am very grateful!
@Alex_Krause ours are made of quarter inch (6mm) mdf but I would highly suggest some 6mm hobby grade ply. It would be much much more stuff and hold up better. Might get one cut in that soon.
Could thicker MDF be used or would it weigh to much?
Gaaa this is beautiful. I wanna build this one in the near future.
@Alex_Krause it should be ok aside from the X axis belt mount for the extruder will need to be extended, but that shouldn’t be a hard fix.
We are building some out of aluminum right now and they don’t seem like they will be too too heavy but I’ll report back. We haven’t had them moving under their own power yet.
I can’t wait to see the aluminum I have plenty of 1/4 inch plate laying around might just have to cut a frame for myself:)
@Mark_Rehorst I’ve had one running for a couple months now. It just clocked over 850 hours and has had zero issues for the last 500. I’ll post some print pictures later today but I’m very pleased with the quality. Very even and straight sides and no z banding to my eye. My other one is at about 60 hours and has been fine as well. Both print identically.
