Finally found a good source for Polycarbonate filament! This stuff is OBSCENELY strong, test prints were awesome. Sticks to UHU Stic too. Prints beautifully at 290C - so well within range of normal all metal hotends. PC Always amazed me at how nicely it lays down, super clean crisp prints. Any suggestions on show-off stuff to print?
(I’m working on getting it up on the site now, it’ll cost under £30, and be under our “interesting filaments” section http://e3d-online.com/Filament/Interesting-Filament )
Awesome news @Sanjay_Mortimer I will be sure to order a kg!
One thing I’ve found with PC is that you apparently need a minimum extrusion speed or it will come out cloudy and slightly brittle instead of crystal-clear (normally even clearer than natural PLA, that is).
Is that £30 per kg?
I’m interested in the optical properties, so a flat print and a thin wall layered print.
Could you print a ruler and measure it’s moment arm with a weight?
I’d be interested to see how well it performs as a shelf bar or something similar.
@Thomas_Sanladerer I’ve not experienced this myself, but all my prints were large layers for mechanical applications so extrusion speed reasonably high.
And yep - £30/kg
@Mike_Kelly_Mike_Make I’ve printed a bunch of tensile dog bones and some other parts, including deflection for a Uni that is doing some really comprehensive testing (and will share the results).
I’ll do some sort of a nice vase etc - but to give you a ballpark it’s nearly identical in appearance to PET/T-Glase/_XT etc. Certainly much more clear than clear PLA.
