Filament color (gold) match by image

Hi everyone, like many others I’m sure you guys come in contact with, I’m pretty new to 3d printing and sort of fumbling my way around. I have been working on 3d modeling a movie accurate golden gun from the James Bond movie “Man with the Golden Gun” so I wanted it to be as color accurate to the original prop as possible. I have bought a few spools of filament off of Amazon going off the product image on the site and I have found that a lot of them are very off the mark and not accurate. A majority of the gold pla that I have seen on there has sort of an “orange-y”, candyish appearance to it whereas I’m looking for more of a brassy true gold appearance in certain parts and a sort of matte champagne gold on others. I’ve tried using hue3d.com and filamentcolors.xyz but neither of them seem to offer much variety. I’ve attached pictures of the original prop as well as a close facsimile of the color I’m looking for. What gold filament would you guys recommend that would come very close to what I’ve shown below or do you know of a way that I could fairly accurately compare different colors?

There are a couple of filament manufacturers who sell sample chip sets:

that said, appearance will be affected by the temperature used for extruding, and the texture imparted by speed and heat settings.

Is painting not an option? Most of the Cosplay folks seem to put a lot of effort into that aspect.

Well, because there are a lot of moving parts that are dependent on tight tolerances, it would be hard to make that work. I actually had a cheap, low quality model where the paint sort of gummed up the moving parts.

Here are the Hatchbox filaments:

1 - Gold

2 - Copper

3 - Bronze

4 - Silver

I hope this helps.

Sorry for the slow response guys, thank you for your input and help. When I get time, just to help someone else maybe save some money, I’ll post my gold pla variations.
