does anyone know where i can get a 3d printer for under £150 i would be willing to assemble it myself and shop around for the parts.
That’s a pretty tight budget. You can get a PrintrBot Simple in kit form for $300, which is what, £185?
@Patrick_Ryan thanks for getting back so quickly. i am 13 and i have little money so that is why my budget is so tight. anyway i will look into the PrintrBot
you could probably build a Prusa i3 with the box frame. This kit ( £130) has most of the components(minus electronics, hotend, and printed parts) he also sells it for £15 less without the wood planks. http://www.emakershop.com/browse/listing?l=536
@Aaron_Leclair But he’s still gonna need electronics and hotend. That’s gonna completely blow his budget.
@Aaron_Leclair thanks for the help, however i am unsure of where i could find parts that i know will be 100% compatible for a cheap price. but again thanks for the help.
That’s really tight… You can get a printrbot simple but it is really small
@Todd_Kuebelbeck You’re right - and not to sound like a PrintrBot evangelist - but he could always add the volume upgrade later on and increase his build volume to roughly 8"x4"x8" from the base 4"x4"x4". Even the base Simple is sufficient to print useful items and it certainly gets you started on the technology, especially if you build it yourself from a kit.
I thought I had posted a link to some cheap electronics. Geeetech should have some, and if you self source majority of the parts in that kit it should lower the cost significantly.
There’s always the option of a makibox. It’s within your price range.
@Aaron_Leclair the makibox has a 1400 unit backlog and have been shipping 3 to 4 units a day on average. So until they get that fixed I would not recommend going there. I own the printrbot, it is fine, but I don’t think you will be able to get any printer at 150 euro shipped.
@Camerin_hahn Adam said £150, that’s British pounds. So it amounts to €178. Maybe someone near you could print you the parts for a RepRap printer? That might bring the price down.
He could start with the printr bot simple and later canibalize it to build a different build after printing the new kit. A cabinet shop gave me the mdf for my mendel 90 i3 hybrid free out of their burn pile.
@D_Rob The simple is outside of his price range. I would highly recommend it, i am using one, it does everything i need
Sourcing your own parts will cost well over his range. Electronics alone would eat it. The simple is probably his best bet. Id suggest he take a little time and save a little more. When I was looking to buy me first ride my dad always told me “Son I know you see all of the deals around and when you get the money together the deal, for you, will be there.”
