DLC32 with TMC2208

Hi I’m resurrecting my unused K40 and going for a full bed rebuild. I have bought an MKS DLC32 and a couple of TMC2208 drivers. Before I blow something up can anyone tell me if it is ok to plug them in (in the right orientation of course) and also since I have 2 motors on the y axis do I have to tweak the voltage on that one?
thank you.

First, I would be careful using two motors on the Y. If one shorts and the gantry gets misaligned the mirrors are also misaligned which may cause the beam to hit on an unintended spot potentially causing a fire.

This is why the K40 and many others use one motor driving a long shaft connecting both sides of the Y. A dual shafted stepper allows for this and eliminates the aforementioned safety risk.

Valid point. Ive ordered a dual shafted motor.
Thanks

Are you planning on putting a fiber source in this?

:smiley_cat:

No, just going with the original tube if it still works.

Just noted fiber laser in the keywords…

Thanks for noticing that — I moved it out of the Fiber sub-category now.
