Did some update to the carriage today. V rolling also works with 10x10mm aluminium tube which is only half the weight of the 15x15 angle profile. Problem with both is if you put much pressure on it the profiles start to bend pretty much as you can see in the video.
So i added 4 more bearings to the #CrossCarriage . Looks a bit nasty but is only a prototype to test. Very stable now. Also can use round tube. 10mm is a bit to soft and still bending pretty much so i inseted 8mm carbon tube into the 10mm alu tube. Very strong now. I test fitted 14mm Wood rod to see if this diameter works. best would be 12 or 14mm Alu tube or for lightest setup 10 or 12mm carbon tube i think.
Next step will be reducing weight of the cube by replacing steel screws and nuts by plastic ones and maybe drill some holes in top and bottom plate.
