CW-5200 Chiller Querstion

Looking to get a CW-5200 or maybe a CW-5202
Which Brand is better? Monport, OMTech, Vevor, some others. ? Which one should i avoid? Any advice, tips, warnings would be greatly appreciated.

Are they interchangeable? Meaning will a Monport chiller work with my OMTech K40? what about the other way around will a OMTech chiller work on a Monport machine?
I plan to upgrade to a 60 or maybe 80 wat CO2 machine with a larger bed in the near future, but haven’t decided on brand or model yet. What i do know is that I’m tired of swapping out frozen water bottles every 20 minutes. I plan to get the chiller now so I don’t have to buy one when i get a new machine next month.

Thanks
David

I don’t know if any brand is better, that’s likely more along the lines of how they treat their customers.

There is little difference in the 5000 series, here’s the users manual and the maintenance manual.

There isn’t any difference if it’s a glass tube co2 for coolant. As long as you can remove the needed heat, it doesn’t know.

I have a 5202, it’s only difference is it allows the coolant to run though two machines, in series.

Suggest you use a good coolant for lasers. Distilled water is great, but I’ve used OMTech, from Amazon, coolant for about 3 years, I think. You don’t want an automotive antifreeze, mainly because of the added chemicals, which lowers the dielectric. Water is a perfect insulator, until it picks up minerals and/or other chemicals.

Nothing grows in this as it’s an alcohol of some type.. don’t remember, off hand.

If you have any other questions, I’ll give try and answer them.

:smiley_cat:

I bought a Vevor chiller, back in January. I’ve only just been able to finally get everything installed, this past couple of weeks but so far the Vevor is doing well.
